Believe me, I can understand if James got sick of it after all these years, donated it to Locks of Love, or just wanted something new, or an updated look; BUT STILL IT IS SHOCKING TO ME!! I have seen DT 6 times near front row each time, I am used to James' near waist length hair flapping away behind him each time he moves or runs around, especially when he jumps back on stage after the instrumentals... Yeah I am sorry and I am a 33 year old long haired metal head, I have had long hair down to the middle of my back since I was about 15 years old. It is my character, it is who I am, and I always saw James' hair as the same. I know he didn't 'sell out' that's for sure...! My brother and best friends always had really long hair too, but they cut it for jobs, or they just got sick of it. My very best friend is growing it back out after 10 years, however. Ok admittedly I am a dork, I wanna drive 7 hours to see my Metal God James singing his heart out and head bang with his long  @#!*%  hair!! James cutting his hair IS TENS TIMES THE SHOCK OF MIKE LEAVING THE BAND TO ME!! I am frankly more surprised this isn't more shocking to more people. Of course HAIR doesn't make the musician, TOT has been DT heaviest album ever and JLB and JM were the only ones who had long hair. I don't know how much metal you guys listen to OUTSIDE of America(to you USA fans) but most metal bands all have LOOOOONG hair. It is only trendy mostly in the USA for these 'metal' bands to have short hair. I have always LOVED the fact that most members of DT have long hair, and don't give a  @#!*%  what is trendy.
Well said methinks. Kind of happy someone else feels the same way.
And honestly I also am sad because now when someone asks what my hair looks like I can't tell them to look up 'James LaBrie' on google images, because hair-wise, we are exact copies!!!!!!!!!!!  My hair is my freaking TRADEMARK.
"You know Natalie?" "Doesn't ring a bell. Have I see her?" "Yeah, she's the one with a lot of hair. "Oh yeah, I know her." and one time when it was hot, all my friends called me pom-pom head, lol.

Forgive me for saying this; but does James' PERSONAL CHOICE have anything to do with this?  It's HIS HEAD.  Let him do what he likes.   I mean...come on...... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

my hair doesn't resemble JLB's, but some people do think of it as my trademark. Back in college, one of my guys gave me sort of a backhanded complement about it. I have extremely curly hair, and I told him that I was thinking about straightening it. He said, "No, you can't! All your personality is in your hair!" Gee, thanks? Roll Eyes

I know quite well but hair can change a LOT about you.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit I am the "pot" calling the "kettle" here.  I have had long hair just about almost down to my butt for a long time now.  I only ever had it cut to my shoulders ONCE, and that was by accident; and I will admit I was PISSED when they made that mistake on me.  But it grew back nicely, and I am still happy to have it long.  I ALMOST did the Locks of Love thing, but I chickened out when I saw how short they were gonna go.  it's not just the 12 inches.  FIRST they take off the 12", and THEN they have to clean it up.  Unfortunately, my vanity won.  However, I cut about 2" off, and will keep growing it hopefully until I can really cut it off to donate.
Yes, my hair is important to me too......it's vanity.....kind of sad to say of myself....but anyway....

The only thing i hate hate hate seeing is the "skullet".  Dude, when the top is gone, and the hair is thinning, that is just disgusting.  Now to clarify, I say this of ANY man that I see with that.  It's just silly to me.   Cheesy

If I ever go thinning like that, I will go rogaine, or propecia, or whatever I need to do!! Yes I am vain over my hair, too. I am a guy who takes care of his long hair, and will never let it look nappy!! YUCK

I don't think James changed his hair to be trendy.. in fact it seems like the opposite. Long hair and beards are what all the metal musicians have these days, and it's starting to become cliche.

That said, I am also a long hair enthusiast (for myself).. I don't plan on cutting it anytime soon.

No, you're definitely not the only one! Cry

But am I the only one who doesn't believe that he cut his hair?!
I mean, we've only seen pictures were he looks straight into the camera - and they were poor quality.
He probably played a joke on us!
Honestly! Usually radically new haircuts of public persons are introduced with promoshoots - and James' are still with long hair - and very recent!
I think he just tied his hair back, took some pictures, probably photoshopped them a little and has now a lot of fun about our reactions  Cheesy

I simply can't imagine him without his mane! Grin
