About one more time;

Except all the scream part I really like this song. I mean guitar solo, the dark atmosphere and James's vocal. The different thing is the soft vocal style for this extremely monster song and I think this is the thing makes the song interesting. Also his vocal technique reminds me Madmen & Sinners but his pitch is really high there. Pretty unlike what he did past and that's why it comes enjoyable for me.

I agree om most part. As for screams, I probably have to correct myself. In parts where screams underlay James's lead vocals, it sounds astonishingly beautiful in perfect contrast. It's the verses I still have to grow my taste for (will I ever be able to?).
Another great thing about the song is variety. It's so multi-layered and diverse - I mean, it's under 4 and a half minutes, but at the end you get the feeling like you've listened to a 7-minute epic.
God, I pray the rest of stuff is just as awesome.

it reminds me the matrix

First thing I thought too!  Cheesy

It's pretty disturbing actually...but then I'd count that as positive. Reminds me of some of the nightmare sequences in Heavy Rain, if that rings a bell with anyone.

I must admit I was disconcerted when I first heard the screaming. It was pretty strange to hear a voice that was not James's on a song from his solo album. I'm normally not a fan of screaming vocals. There's only one vocalist out there who screams that I actually like - Chris Clancy, from Mutiny Within. He's actually one of my favorite vocalists now, because he can scream and sing. Anyhow, I really like the part of One More Time where the screams are underneath James's vocals. As for the other screaming parts, it'll probably take a few more listens before I get accustomed to them. I was reading on another forum that somebody said you should consider the screaming vocals as just another instrument in the band, and when you think of it that way, it's just adding another dimension of tone color. But I loved the song overall. James has never put out a solo album or side project that I didn't like, so I'm still excited to hear the rest of the album.

whoever came up with that thought is a genius. From now on, I'll look at it exactly this way, hopefully that'll help me overcome my hostility towards this vocal style... thanks so much for the tip!

About the one more time song, yeah, not my kind of thing, but it's good, the only thing that it needs,its a better mixing, because james vocals are too low, i can barely hear him.

Just got done listening to this song for the first time and I really like it. This has been one of the best first impressions I've gotten from a solo LaBrie song (it took me a few spins to appreciate Elements of Persuasion) and I am thoroughly even more excited for Static Impulse now.

This sounds a lot like Raintime, and I love the harsh vocals paired up with LaBrie's. It's going to be a very interesting-to-hear record that I'll no doubt love.

It was somebody over on the MP forum. I suppose if I wasn't so lazy I could dig through the thread and find out who... anyhow, I'm glad you find the tip helpful! But yeah, growling/screaming can add an interesting color to music. I first started realizing that with Akerfeldt's vocals on The Human Equation. As long as the vocals have decent tone (and there are a few out there which do) and alternate with clean vocals, I can tolerate them.

Well, well ,well. I heard the song about 3 times by now. I have to say that I don't like the song at all. It's really heavy and it's telling me a lot about the new album, hoping it will be good. Then again Elements was  a great album and there were also 2 songs on it I didn't like, so let's see. All in all the song is good. I personally don't like it cause I think it's too heavy and harsh. That's the reason I don't like any Trash, speed, Death and black metal bands anyway  I don't like growls  and harsh vocals at all and especially not with so much distortion. To me it sounds just like any other nu metal band. That's  just my personal opinion of course, no offence!!! There is nothing I haven't heard before there so it didn't really leave that much of an impression on me. I think the other bad thing is that I have to agree with  Zamagna. James' vocals are really too low and it's a bad mix looks like somebody put James' vocals into 2nd plan. What a shame! He did a good job though.
