Natt, as I recall from taking Russian class, it wasn't too hard for me...not sure about others. My native language is of course English, which has complicated grammar rules. Russian does as well, but at least the grammar tends to stick to the rules, and it's relatively easy to work with exceptions. Discerning the gender of Russian nouns was a LOT easier than in French, because at least in Russian, gender-based grammar refers to the spelling of the noun rather than cultural stereotypes. (I'm sure that the intentions behind the spelling of many Russian nouns was based on cultural stereotypes, but at least it's obvious and consistent; in French, the spelling of a noun had nothing to do with its perceived gender...or at least, I didn't see a connection.) I think the only hard thing about learning any language is memorizing vocabulary, but I've never been good at memorizing things in general. For some people, it comes naturally.

Perhaps...he was being IRONIC. ::shifty eyes::

Personally, I think it's a very useful phrase. I'll be sure to say it to many German-speakers, if only for the photo opportunities.

Well, I add the French to my language list. Well, I'm still not good at it but trying to be at least.

Turkish---English---Spanish---French... YAY!

Next step will be definetly German.
