I'm certainly excited to hear DT's new album. Especially considering how much control James has had concerning the vocals.

I found a little article with a quote from James about the vocals:
LaBrie stated that: "I didn't want anyone else around when I recorded my vocals for this album, I wanted a relaxed atmosphere, so I did them up here at home in Canada rather than in New York. The results speak for themselves, and they're fantastic."

Does this mean JLB wrote the vocal lines all by himself?

Guitarist John Petrucci has said the bands headlining North American is to feature a lot of the new material from the forthcoming album, reports hard rock website Bravewords.

"The production of the show will be centred around the new material. Up until then, we're playing festivals in Europe, and we will play one of the new songs."

Although the grammar is a little broken, if it means what I think it means, this means that we'll get a taste of the new stuff before its (overdue) release! Grin

That's what I understood as well. While that's good to the audience in concerts, it empties the surprise element of listening to a new record...

No, I don't think so. I think he just recorded them separately.

Maybe doesn't mean he wrote all by himself, but can mean he took part on it, and maybe a big part...

Absolutely. Lots of bands record albums without their members even being in the same country. Just look at Ayreon.

and with James doing the vocals in an area where he is home, with someone who he is very comfortable with, the vocals are going to kick that much ass... Smiley

No, Donna, I think it would be better if that pirate ass stayed attached to the rest of the pirate Cheesy We don't need casualties, not on the Pirate's side at least Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
