Yup, that was the setlist for last night's show!  What a night for a concert.  The weather was perfect, and we had a great time with our friends.  The show:  Well, what can I say that I haven't before?  I needed this outlet VERY VERY badly.  It was only a 45 minute set, but hey - they were the opening act, and it's better than nothing.  I think the people working the sound board didn't do as good a job as they could have - even for Iron Maiden.  It was SUPER loud, and the range was very very high.  However, this didn't stop me from just about keeling over with happiness that I was there.  I sang my rear end off.  I was sweating just as much as James - by the time they were done, I was once again, emotionally spent, and unfortunately, wanting more music from them.  My fav parts were when "As I Am" began....singing the part about "Victoria" in "Home" at the top of my lungs....Panic Attack tore at my heart (because it's part of the Octavarium CD) and of course....Pull Me Under has a special place for any DT fan over 35 yrs old.
All in all, I got my DT fix - FOR NOW.   Wink Cheesy  I wish I could have gone to the one off show in Buffalo, but the timing is all wrong, and it's not possible for me to do so during the week.  I hear that it's sold out anyway, and after last night, I had my fill of a crowd of 16 000 people, thanks!

In all honesty - if I had a choice, I wouldn't see DT as an opener - depending on who is opening.  Iron Maiden played the same setlist as we have been reading about, and we (my husband and I ) knew almost none of it.  But there was other stuff too that sways me from seeing IM again that I won't bother getting into here.  So, the next time I see DT, I hope to see them as the main attraction.

Still, i am happy.  It was a rough Winter.  And I was able to scream a little bit of that out of my system last night.
Thanks again, DT.

a little article from Mike about this tour: (from http://www.ultimate-guitar.com)

Mike Portnoy: I Feel Maiden's Pain

Mike Portnoy admits Dream Theater  are finding their tour support slot with Iron Maiden a struggle. But he says his band's problems are easier than the headline act, who are facing the wrath of fans on a nightly basis.

The drummer tells Goldmine: "It's a weird adjustment for us to be the opening band. We've only done it a couple of times in our career. It's awesome to be on stage with with the mighty Iron Maiden they are a big part of our history and a big influence.

"On the other hand, we're adjusting to the smaller stage space, shorter set length and the things that happen when you're the opening band. It's strange but it's worth it in the end."

Portnoy has put together a Dream Theater set which he hopes will act as a "crash course in the band's metal side" for Maiden fans who aren't familiar with their music. It's the first time the prog giants have stuck to the same set every night on a tour, which makes him glad the band have never had any hit singles.

He says: "I would hate having to go out and play the same songs because that's what people want to hear.

"I'm seeing that with Maiden right now. They've chosen to do a set list on this tour that's basically songs from the last ten years. And there's a big backlash from some of their fans.

"I can understand that fans want to hear the hits, but I can understand that Maiden don't want to be stuck playing the same songs for the rest of their lives. They put out new music so they want to play the new music."

Maiden will headline Sonisphere at Kebworth on July 31 - August 2.

Thanks for the report to RockRadio.

Well....I can only re-iterate.  I won't see them as as opener again.  IMHO, they don't deserve that - they deserve a hell of a lot more - more space, more freedom.  I like it when they are in control of what they do.  Not what other promoters or bands tell them to do.
But that's just little ole fan girl me..... Roll Eyes Cheesy

on contrast of the Portland and Auburn Show, i can say that to go from full show to opener I see where Mike is coming from.
