934  General Category / General Music Chat / Messages for James Thread - NOT A QUESTION / ANSWER THREAD on: November 26, 2008, 12:58:44 pm
Hi folks.  Let's try something new here that we didn't do on the last Board.  And I repeat.
THIS IS NOT A QUESTION AND ANSWER THREAD.

Has his music / lyrics made a difference to you, or do you think he just rocks?  Like his work?
Tell him so here.  Please please PLEASE do NOT go pm'ing James.  This is also NOT a thread for female fans to come and try to "pick James up".  Let's REMEMBER he is a happily married man here with a family, folks.
This is just a thread in case he comes by some time to show him that we enjoy and appreciate the work he does.

So.  What say you to him?

What would I say?

Thanks for sharing your voice and talents.  Thanks for helping to get me through some of the roughest points in my life, and for giving me an outlet - when in the mood, I can belt out the tunes just by playing a CD, and it feels GREAT!  Oh yes, and for the soundtrack to my housecleaning days!  Cheesy  Thanks for showing the rest of the world, that Canadians can kick ass!

Do you have your copy?   Want to discuss the solo project that brought James to shine with some fantastic opera singers?  Check this CD out!  A blurb about it from Dirk's Myspace:

GET ALL THESE SONGS IN HI-RESOLUTION MP3 FOR FREE ON www.tsr-project.com!!!!!!!!
The TSR project involves an international team of artists and producers from Germany, Canada, Russia and the Ucraine.
When the TSR concept was started back in 2000 the basic idea behind it was to get 3 world-class singers to perform the "Best of" repertoire of the original 3 Tenors (Luciano Pavarotti (R.I.P.*), Placido Domingo, Josť Carreras) ... in ROCK versions!
The forthcoming TSR release (early 2008) now features JAMES LABRIE (vocalist of DREAM THEATER) and the 2 world-famous classical tenors THOMAS DEWALD and VLADIMIR GRISHKO as 'The 3 Rock Tenors'.
Although mixing classical and rock music has already been done before in the past we do believe that the TSR Project is a new and unique combination of these two forces and probably the first time ever to feature 2 world-class classical tenors and one of the most respected voices in rock on one entire album!
Needless to say with a dream-cast like the TSR has that this first TSR album is in no way a persiflage or satire but a serious attempt to transport the music of the 3 Tenors into the rock-world, and to show the classical world the beauty and power that a rock band can create. Check the music on this site and spread the good word... THANKS!*

The latest DVD release from Dream Theater.  Released now since September / October, it is a DVD that takes a different point of view from the band on both planes - the performance and the personal.
Please share your thoughts on the DVD here.

This thread is dedicated to all of you whom have had the pleasure of meeting James, or any of the DT band members.  If you have a picture, or even an experience, feel free to post it here.
I have met James twice.  The first time was in 2003.  It was after a concert they played on the tour with Queensryche.

The next time was on the Octavarium tour at Massey Hall 2006.  Great concert, and great experience meeting most of the band.

Very down to earth when you get them in a relaxed setting.  So here we go!   Don't be shy.  Share your pics!
