I saw this a while back.  With Avenged Sevenfold on the list twice, I didn't give it much credence.  They are a fine band and I like some of their duel lead guitar riffs, but come on.  I don't think I would have placed Dark Eternal Night as the JP's best riff.  I guess none of these lists can ever be made without much second-guessing and criticism.

I want a James LaBrie Christmas CD.  With 4-5 songs that show off his pipes and range like Holy Night.  Please, Santa!

Marco currently lives in US, if I don't mistake.

Yes it's right...I think he lived a long time in California but I think he's born in Hannover...probably you don't know this town, know you? Wink

I know it's kind of Mainstream but I think Gavin Harrison is a Portnoy which is better in technique but also can play harder parts...but theres Porcupine Tree and of course he should do continue there!

I like Gavin's style a lot, but it doesn't fit into DT, in my opinion.  I also read an interview with him in which he admitting not really knowing DT's stuff.  I can't imagine him working with DT, but looking forward to hearing him more with PT.

I hope there are some good videos on YouTube of this (or better yet, Jordan should put the whole thing up on his site!).
Wish I could go also.

Just got around to listening to this.
James is so thoughtful and interesting to listen to.
The dude just plain rocks.
Looking forward to the new CD more than ever.
Love the thought of he and JR doing a little piano and voice CD.  That would kick some serious ass (in a mellow and charming way, I'm sure).
186  General Category / General Music Chat / Re: You waited for this so long, you screamed for it. Now it's here. The STOD cover. on: January 06, 2011, 06:51:51 pm
A fantastic work of art.  Tremendous job!
187  General Category / General Music Chat / Re: The Very First Time You've Heard JLB's Voice. on: January 06, 2011, 10:57:16 am
Not sure what the first DT I sampled was, but I didn't like James' voice at first.  Now I LOVE IT!
I can get over losing MP (barely!), but I don't know if I could handle DT w/out James.

I wonder if it is just JP & JL in studio today, or just JP getting set up.  Hopefully James will tweet something postive today.
We know JR is still in China.  It would seem weird to have Drummer X get in the studio before Jordan.
This is exciting!

Should have looked down further on the board.  Sorry for reposting redundant info.
But I am twice as excited now!
190  General Category / General Music Chat / JPs Twitter update - DT in studio on: January 03, 2011, 11:02:14 am
JP's tweet from this AM:
"First day in the studio and the dawn of a new era for DT. Can't wait to get the music flowing."
Funny, because Jordan was posting pictures from China on the first.  I guess he's back.
Getting excited!!
191  General Category / General Music Chat / James Labrie Christmas Album on: January 02, 2011, 11:11:54 am
I can't get over how freaking awesome the versions of Oh Holy Night are as sung by James.  I watched the YouTube version with DT from 1998 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoNcADD4IyU) and the acoustic version with JP (www.youtube.com/watch?v=NavgL2L57C4) several times over the past month.

James singing this song is just amazing.

I know since we are past Christmas, this thread might be a little late but can you picture James singing any other Christmas songs that are worthy of his range and style like Oh Holy Night obviously is.  Maybe too many are written for those of us with no range (like Jingle Bells, anyone can sing).

Does anyone have any suggestions for worthy songs?  I was thinking maybe a nice version of It Came Upon a Midnight Clear with JR on the grand piano would be a good starter.

you act like what happened was a common occurrence with DT. Let that die already.../quote]

@w34vi1  Just a joke.  Sometimes only I am the only one to find my own jokes funny (just ask my wife!).
Peace.

but remember, if James felt like he needed a break, he would have taken it.

And he would have dropped that bomb on the band at their meeting to discuss the new recording.  The rest of the band would have decided they don't need a break and started auditions for a new singer...

Resting while he is in his top? HELL NO!

And your first post is epic fail.  Tongue Welcome to the board btw.  Cheesy

Sorry, but I'd have to agree.  If you come in, come in strong.  I saw DT three times this year (including the club show in Portland) and our Captain is bringing it as loud and strong as ever!

Thanks for posting and providing some killer tunes.  This has some really good stuff.
