Hi folks.  Let's try something new here that we didn't do on the last Board.  And I repeat.

Thanks for being an awesome singer/frontman. I've loved your voice since i first heard Metropolis three years ago.

And Rough Boys on Winter Rose ;D, man, that is indeed a strong voice.

Personally, I find your best recent work to be Elements of Persuasion. I just think youre sounding so good there. Drained is my fav.

Looking foward to the next DT album...and the next tour(or maybe not. going into the military next summer and then staying there the following year.)
and hoping for a new James LaBrie album :)

anyways, see you in Oslo Spektrum next year I guess?..

This is also NOT a thread for female fans to come and try to "pick James up".  Let's REMEMBER he is a happily married man here with a family, folks.

Oh brother!! I never really thought of DT as a "groupie" band anyway, whether the guys are married are not. That's one of the things I had always respected about, not only James, but all the guys in DT is what dedicated, loving family men they are. Even if any of them were single, I still wouldn't throw myself at them, although I think each one of them is attractive in their own way.

As far as what to say to James, I've been listening to you & DT since 1994. I couldn't stop listening to Images & Words for the longest time and still to this day "Surrounded" is my all-time favorite DT song, because I was blown away by your singing on that song. Before I even got to know all about you, I kept saying "this guy's voice is incredible!"

Also, like Lutima had mentioned, thank you for your kindness when meeting fans, too. I can tell some nights that you are understandably tired, but everytime, you are always gracious towards each & every one of us, and I appreciate that more than you know.

I just wanted to thank you for the past 14 years, seriously, 14 years of one of the top things in my life that keeps me going. I go to alot of concerts and I've seen DT more than any other musical act, and alot of the reason for that is you.

I know, dahling.  But if you have been around these Boards as much as some of us have, and seen the utter CRAP that some of us have seen with some of the female fans, you just need to cut me some slack when I tell you I really wanted to put that little disclaimer in there.   ;)/me slides Andie down some cheesecake and a hot tea

I am sorry Donna, but I had to laugh while reading that... *wink*  :D

I think it's great you proposed this. James does read here by now and then. He still does occasionally answer a question. Now it's structurised.

Sorry, Donna, I worded that wrong. When I said "Oh brother!" It wasn't a comment toward you about what you wrote about "picking James up". It was towards the females that have the nerve to even think that they have "a chance" with James, and hit on him not caring if he's married.

Just from my experience I have yet to see any females at their shows dress or act slutty. All the females I see there are either there because they know & love their music or they're there with their boyfriends/husbands and not familiar with the music and are only there because their men wanted to go.

Unfortunately, I can't be on here as much as I would like. I would've really like to catch some of the utter CRAP that you speak of!

Hope that clears things up. ;)

Hey James!! It's a honor that you even might read this. I had a boyfriend a few years ago that was all about dt...and got me into them. Now it is literally all i listen to- no other music is comparable. Your voice is the most amazing, most pure voice i have ever heard. And singing along in my car and home is my favorite thing to do. i feel like i know every note of every song! i'm in art school currently and am learning neat things-- i decided to make some fan art. it isn't spectacular but i have gotten compliments ;D Feel free to put in in your fan art album on myspace! ;)

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT TOUR! it will be my first to go see, hopefully i can get some front row action!!  8)

Telling people about your music ever day! i love you guys more than you can even imagine-

Hey James, just wanted to say I respect you a whole lot man, and even though I think you were much better in your younger days, I gotta give you major credit considering all the things you've been through and the thousands of performances you've done for all of us fans, I'm glad to see you (and the rest of dream theater) are still out there giving it to us and as always I look forward to upcoming albums and I'm always checking for new live performances and rare footage on youtube, love you man.

If you care to know I have one personal request, when you do Learning to Live during a live performance can you sing the extra parts after the F#  ;D I loved that on the Live Scenes from New York performance and also I found this DT audition recording on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwKhd67XQqM&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwKhd67XQqM&feature=related) from 1990 where you did it check out my comment on there.

"haha I love the part after the F#, it almost reminds me of some fantastical journey like in a disney movie or something hahaha."

Thanks James, you're my number one singing idol, love ya man.

Hayley, that's beautiful artwork!

I have yet to see a DT show. I was living in Orlando earlier this year, and I had to leave for Michigan the day before the DT show at Hard Rock, and they had already played Detroit!  >:(

it seems fate has made it where i can't see DT live.

The last time they were in Oregon was 2004 and I didn't find that out until three years later. When they were in Seattle during the Chaos in Motion tour for James' birthday, I had a lacrosse game so i couldn't make it.

With my fingers crossed I'm hoping to get to see them (and meet them) this up coming tour. (Wither people like it or not I am going to see them!)

James, you are awesome. You inspired me, along with the rest of the DT crew to write music in the Progressive genera. As of now i've been inquired to write music for a movie that a buddy and I are slaving away on, and thankfully i can throw my taste into it... there was even a joke of having DT appear in it for a club scene. But knowing your guys busy schedule, that would never happen.

Well, there's a lot I'd like to say to James if he ever come to read this, for example, that he inspired me to start singing, to say that I'm thankful for all his beautiful music, you can notice he's a very special person at first sight.

Well, as I said before, there's a lot more I'd love to tell him, but for now I'll just post this.

Say hello to my son, he's called James and he loves your music

Err, saying something to James...

Well, if he'd even read those posts any time...
I'd like to say that you are my favorite vocalist, and musician, ever.
You really changed my whole perspective about musicians. Before listening to DT I could really careless about the music I heard. But not only DT is a great band, you really amazed me as a person. I heard a lot of your material ever since the Winter Rose release, and you always sound so dedicated and amazing.
I'd also like to say I love your way of contributing to the music. No DT song or any other song you sing at could be the same if you weren't so careful about the meanings and devoted to the meanings and the song itself.
And I have to add, everything I know you're participating more at, starting from Wait for Sleep were you "played" the only instrument out of 2, all the way to songs you write and even compose (either in your solo albums or DT songs), amazes me more than the usual. There are songs like Disappear and His Voice that I would never get over them,

So saying that, I can't wait for your next solo album, your next show in Israel, and the day you'll participate more in album makings. I really wanted a lyric from you to be in BCSL. Well, maybe next time o:

Well, i'll start concluding. I really want to say one more thing...I love the way you're preparing for concerts. It just show how dedicated you are. It's really amazing to see a man who takes care of his vocals that way, and still manages to write so great lyrics, and sing in a way that passes so many sensations. I have to say your lyrics amaze me. You write about beautiful topics, and you write everything perfectly. That's another reason i'm excited about your next album for.

So umm, I think I said everything I wanted to say to James...and that was very shortly.
Oh and, i'd be damn glad if you'll come with your solo project to Israel. Plus, if you guys (either DT or your solo project) would come to Israel when i'll have enough money to take care of myself, get ready to see me in the Meet and Greet XD

w34vi1, it took them 10 albums not including ACoS to come to Israel, so I can quite understand you o:
I've done my thing, sorry for the long, long, unclear post

James,

You are my absolutely favorite singer. Your voice has gotten me through some very difficult times. I've discovered that whenever I'm in a bad mood, there are two things that are guaranteed to make me feel better-your voice, and chocolate. Your music has been a very important part of my life, and I wish you all the best.

i hope you'll soon read it...
i love your voice (and i'm not the only one)and i can't imagine music whitout it!
i'm italian (sorry for my elementary english) and i met you and DT in your last tour in italy (you was not able to pronounce my name...)
i've two questions for you:
1) you're used to receive many compliments, but there's a compliment you'd like to receive, that nobody made you since now?
whatever it'll be, i make it to you!!!!!!!!!
2) you've just terminated your european tour, it's probably you'll come back to italy next year? Say yes please...
Enjoy your well deserved rest with your family and remember that all we love you...
Ciao

It's been 16 years since my friend gave me I&W to listen. It was my first experience with progressive metal and It took me a month of listening until it really clicked me. Once it did, it really changed me as a music listener and how I viewed music in general. Only one other album that had as huge of an impact on me was Pain of Salvation's The Perfect Element. I still love I&W after all of these years.

You have been my favourite vocalist ever since. You seem to be really nice and down to earth kind of person with great sense of humour. Would be really cool to meet you. I really respect your dedication to your craft and that you never gave up and fought through all the hardships you've had. Oh, and if it wasn't clear, you really have a awesome voice.  :)

As I am new to DT, besides finding great pleasure in listening to their music, `A Rite of Passage` did lead me to asking my Freemason friend a lot of questions about Freemasonry, as I was already well aware they are an esoteric group, I knew there were boundaries to my questions, but I did find what I learnt very interesting.
I am sure in the future, Dream Theatre's and James Labrie's music will inspire me in many ways.  :)

Oh wow. What a cool idea!

James - first of all thank you for being SO kind every time I've been lucky enough to meet you. I've told everyone how great you are. Just the nicest guy to his fans.

I also want to thank you for your passion as a writer and a performer. For every lyric you've written, you sing it with such emotion that I say to myself (taking 'Disappear' as an example) "Oh wow... his... his wife didn't die, did she??? This is so sad!!!!" You just sell it so beautifully. Plus you're my favorite lyricist in the band.

I'm so thankful that you're contributing to the vocal melodies more now that the band has changed (for the better). Your melodies are always amazing.

Lastly - thank you for sticking it out through the hard times. Thank you for not giving up after you went through your vocal struggles and not leaving when you had difficulties with some band mates (sneezes *PORTNOY*).... whew... excuse me.

Static Impulse was amazing and A Dramatic Turn of Events is going to be an epic event in and of itself. Good luck to you, sir! May God richly bless you.

Splinter (aka Loren)

O yes, this is a really cool idea and i entirely agree with Splinter.

James, I am profoundly grateful for your music and i am constantly impressed by your stunning vocal abilities (coupled with outstanding musicianship). I love your voice and i admire your talent - the songs such as Disappear, Sacrificed Sons, Coming Home (Static Impulse is simply brilliant) move and fascinate me deeply. Thank you so much!
We really look forward to "A Dramatic Turn of Events". Can't wait to see you live again.

Greetings from Berlin,

Diana

"Thanks" for being part of a band that I have come to love more than anything else on this planet. You, James, as well as the rest of DT (past & present members) will always be a hero to me.

I have seen that a lot of people, which is not people around here, usually complain about the change in their favorite artists.

As for me, once I have an admiration on an artist, from what piece of his work is no matter, I would support him for whatever he would do.

I do believe, and particularly when talks of James LaBrie works, that he would not just carelessly create and release a work. Yet, he always put his best effort and dedication in every pieces of work, and based on my belief that an artist usually shares parts of perfectionist, he would not just let it go easily. There are always things that higher than business and earning a living. It is musicianship and aesthetics.

I also realize that it is difficult or even impossible to create work that everybody would be pleased with. When you talk of arts, it is always and forever subjective issue. For me, it does not matter according to the reason I mentioned earlier.

Therefore, I would support James LaBrie forever, and support him for whatever he would do, with my respect and admiration on him.

Mr. LaBrie, I know that it is too high to wish that you would read this little message of mine, but I truly mean it.

Mmk, so I'm going to post in this thread again:

I got my LEGAL download of the new record from RoadRunner today.

Sweet baby Jesus in the mornin', James this album is freakin' unbelievable. Absolutely unreal. You and all the other guys are in top form, if not better. Every single song brings chills. Unreal. "Far From Heaven"... my wife and I had to pause the player and just sit there for a second. Wow.

THANK YOU & AND SEE YOU IN CHICAGO!!!

Well, just listened to the new cd for the 3rd time straight thru and I would totally be remiss if I did not say how moved I was by JLB's vocals on 'This Is The Life'  :o
To sound that amazing after ALL these years and wear and tear on one's vocal chords.  I mean WOW. Simply one of the best JLB performances......ever!
Long Live Dream Theater!

"This is the Life" is a very spherical piece with fantastic guitar parts and breathtaking vocals. I love the song.

The new album "A Dramatic Turn of Events" is just phenomenal. A masterpiece (In the truest sense of the word). Spherical, harmonious and very multi-faceted, rhythmic and impulsive and also gentle and melodious. The creativity of Dream Theater is immense. James' performance is fabulous, simply brilliant. And we are deeply impressed and moved by "Far from Heaven". James' emotional singing, accompanied by piano and strings, gives the song an incredible intensity and depth, creates a very melancholic atmosphere. I love the new album and I admire JLB's expressive, beautiful, crystal-clear voice.

We are looking forward to the shows in Boston, Berlin and Hanover. I can't wait to hear Dream Theater live again. :)

James, you're one of my favorite rock singers out there. Your performance in Caracas in 2005 simply blew me away. I'm loving the new CD very much and find your contribution, "Far from heaven", one of the best songs, rounded up with your truly emotional singing. I'm glad I've been able to see Dream Theater live four times and can't wait to see you guys again. Keep rocking, James!

James, great meeting you Saturday night.  And as it turns out, what I mentioned to you was a case of mistaken identity.  The forklift driver we were stuck behind on the freeway was NOT wearing a pirate costume after all.  Just some guy who likes wearing frilly things in the warehouse, apparently.  Who knew?

Hey James, congrats on an incredible Chicago show. You sounded amazing, as always. I especially enjoyed your sweet vocals during the acoustic set. Also, I loved your awesome black coat. I was so impressed by how well you and the rest of the band have come together with Mangini. It's as if you've been playing together for many years. I hope you and the guys enjoy the rest of your tour!

Hi James,
Just love your Static Impulse album. Euphoric is the best song!! What I would like to ask you is this...
Is there any way that you can get some copies of Static Impulse run on Vinyl? Vinyl is making a comeback, you know. I think Static Impulse would really sound good if you had someone like Mobile Fidelity run off some "Half Speed Mastered" Original Master Recording on 180 Gram virgin vinyl!! :P The younger generation is beginning to realize what I've always known...that vinyl has a much warmer and realistic sound! So, please consider this?
Thank you, James...your music is the greatest!!

Dear James,

after 15 years loving Dream Theater and especially your voice, I decided to give my CDs to my collegue who likes Rock and Metal.
When he came at work the next day, he was like completely changed, absolutely overwhelmed!!
He absoluetly loves your voice and asks me every week for something new  ;)
I may present you his deep admiration and transmit his compliments for "Impermanent Resonance".

Well done!

James, thank you for your amazing artistry.  I absolutely love the way you use your voice to portray so many emotions and expressions.  My family have suffered a terrible loss in a very tragic accident and the Dream Theater song 'Along for the Ride' has been a wonderful expression of my feelings at this time.  I look forward to all your future work and thank you sincerely for everything previous!
